The Noticing Life™ for Schools
A connected set of reflective materials and experiences designed for low-pressure use in educational settings.
Why Schools Use This Work
Many reflective or mindfulness activities in schools unintentionally create pressure—asking students to explain themselves, perform insight, or share personal experience before they’re ready.
The Noticing Life offers an alternative: reflective space without grading, evaluation, or required sharing. These materials are designed to reduce pressure, not add another demand.
What’s Included
The Noticing Life for Schools is a small, connected set of materials. Each piece can stand alone, but they are designed to work together to support students and educators in different ways.
The Noticing Journal — Student Edition
A full physical journal for students. Pages may be skipped, left blank, or returned to later. This journal is not an assignment and is not designed for assessment.
The Noticing Journal — Teacher Guide
A companion guide that supports careful, ethical use of the student journal in classrooms and learning communities.
The Noticing Pause — Teacher Edition
A short, private noticing experience for educators, offered as a downloadable PDF. This is a personal offering, not a classroom tool.
How Schools Commonly Use These Materials
- One Student Journal per student
- One Teacher Guide per classroom or facilitator
- Optional use of The Noticing Pause by educators
There is no required sequence, outcome, or reporting associated with this work.
A way to experience noticing
Some noticing experiences live directly on this website.
These are short, open-ended noticing adventures originally created as part of the Create Your Adventure program in schools.
They don’t teach concepts or explain noticing.
They don’t require reflection, sharing, or completion.
They simply invite attention, curiosity, and choice.
If you’re curious how this work might feel inside a classroom or shared learning space, you’re welcome to try one.
You can stop at any point.
These experiences eventually point back to Create Your Adventure, a school-based program designed for educators and learning communities who want to create noticing spaces without adding pressure.
