Yep, I Do It Too 😂

I had just finished writing a field note about how we can get stuck in familiar rhythms...

...when I immediately caught myself slipping into one.

Apparently, observation sometimes has excellent timing.

I had just finished writing a field note called Maybe It Wasn’t Wrong.

It was about learning the didgeridoo.

My teacher had been talking about rhythms.

Not because the old rhythm was wrong.

Not because beginners couldn’t hear a different one.

But because shifting into a new rhythm takes time.

We spent quite a while refining the piece.

By the end, I felt pretty good about it.

Then I asked myself whether I should post only part of it on Substack and make people click over to my website to read the rest.

“It’s what people do,” I thought.

“It’s how you grow.”

A few minutes later, I stopped and laughed.

I had quietly stepped into someone else’s rhythm.

Not because it was wrong.

Because it was familiar.

I’d heard it often enough that, for a moment, it felt like the obvious thing to do.

Then I remembered why I started writing these field notes in the first place.

Not to optimize clicks.

Not to build funnels.

Simply to put a little more good into the world.

Apparently...

I’m still learning to shift rhythms.
